My mentor Tammy Dugan has established the project goals for this summer they are:

• Have one global Logic Cache
• Test that LogicCacheEntryKey uniquely represents query evaluations. This involves adding LogicContext properties to the logic key variables.
• Refactor LogicCacheEntryKey into a parent class with subclasses LogicCacheEntryKeyRule and LogicCacheEntryKeyDataElement. Write and test equals and hashcode methods for all three classes
• Test caching methods to find the most efficient data structure to store LogicCacheEntryKeys in the Logic Cache
• Make sure the TTL time of keys is honored and that keys are purged appropriately based on this value

Milestone #1 (July 13) - By midterm, a global logic cache should be successfully implemented. While LogicCache may be refactored to exist outside of the LogicContext — so that a single cache can be shared across multiple contexts — the cache should only be manipulated from within a LogicContext, so consider using protected methods or other means of discouraging direct access to LogicCache from other classes.

Milestone #2 (August 17) -  This milestone involves comparing the current implementation of the Logic Cache with the Logic Cache implemented with ehcache and JCS.

I made it.  I survived finals week!!  I had to turn in two group projects, 2 concept papers, 1 case study and complete a six hour exam.  I spent the two days following all of this sleeping and relaxing.

I have received my grades and I managed to get an A in every class.   I also discovered that I may only have one more course to take in the fall to complete my Master’s degree in information technology.

What should I do then?  Pursue a PhD?  Start the business I have been considering?  With the economy the way that it is, it is difficult to decide what to do next.

I have been sidetracked a little lately because I had to spend a significant amout of time finishing up papers, group projects and studying for a six(6) hour final (which was brutal) .  I will be back on track by the end of the week in terms of setting up my local development environment and to complete the reading I have been doing for the openMRS project.

I am busy learning the in’s and outs of the OpenMRS system.  Spending today going through the online presentations to become more familiar with the data model and some other key areas.

During the initial bonding period for the Google Summer of Code I am reading up on Ehcache and JCS.  In addition to getting familiar with the OpenMRS code base.

I will be working with the OpenMRS project in conjunction with the GSOC2009.
